About Us

The FIVE is a worshipping community of University Carillon United Methodist Church, a community sent to help anyone and everyone become a follower of Jesus. At the heart of who we are is families becoming family – we love seeing people of all backgrounds and ages come together and become family in Christ.

We believe that included within the call to follow Jesus is a call to do life together, and therefore our desire is to cultivate a unique space for families of all kinds to grow in their life with God with each other. To do this, we offer a unique worship experience where families can worship together, while also providing monthly opportunities for families to eat together, be together, and serve together.

We are not a perfect community whatsoever, but we are trying to learn from each other what it means to love God and love others for the glory of God and the sake of the world.

Vision

As a worshipping community of UCUMC, we share the church’s overarching mission to be a community sent to help anyone and everyone become a follower of Jesus. The FIVE seeks to accomplish this by creating space for families to become family for the glory of God and the sake of the world.

FIVE Vocabulary

All in – Weekends where the kids stay in the whole service with us, instead of sending them to their classes partway through. We do this because we believe it’s important for families to worship together, and because we want kids be a part of not only children’s ministry…but of the whole church too.

Praise pit – The open section in the middle of the room where kids (and kids at heart!) are invited to come and sing, clap, dance, and do some hand motions to the songs. Worship can be fun too!

5 Minute Recharge – Five minutes in the middle of service where you can grab coffee, have some peace and quiet, or meet someone new.

Communion – We celebrate communion during service on the first weekend of every month, where we use bread and grape juice to help us remember Jesus’ body that was broken for us and His blood that was shed for us. We practice an open table, which basically means you don’t have to be part of our church or any church to participate. All that’s required is that you desire relationship with Jesus – the table is open!

Family – Here at the FIVE, we want the meaning of “family” to be redefined. We want to go beyond the traditional definition and see families become family in Christ. Whether your family consists of one parent or two parents…one kid, twelve kids, or no kids…if you’re a grandparent or a middle schooler or a college student…you belong to the family of God and you belong to this family, too.
