Do you remember when you were a kid and you’d mess up on something? It didn’t matter what it was and it didn’t matter how big or how small the mess up was when we were kids, in the face of our mistakes, we all wanted one thing: we all wanted a do over.
There are many days when I could use one of those childlike do overs. When you think about it, isn’t that what the New Year is all about? Isn’t the New Year, with all our talk of resolutions and fresh starts just fancy grown up language for what we asked for every day when we were children?
Many of us make the mistake of thinking the Bible is a bunch of stories about perfect people making perfect decisions and God smiling down on them because of how good and perfect they are. Nope…that’s not even close. The Bible is filled with normal, flawed, imperfect people who try and fail and mess up a lot but who are nonetheless loved by God and receive “grace upon grace”.
Join us as we kick off the New Year exploring stories of how God extends grace upon grace, do over upon do over, in the lives of everyday people just like you and me.
